The Prank)
Join me with the Greek Gods
as you are shown a different view of the
traditional way of looking, and interacting,
with them. As we follow through with this
series, starting with The Prank, we see
that the gods are more "human" then first
thought. They have their own personalities, that
are far more detailed, and humorous than they
appear throughout history.
Here is Zeus, traditionally shown as a
overpowering being that does not tolerate much
and expresses his anger sharply, but here, he is
shown more as the grandfatherly type...still
austere and easily angered, but also loving and
more tolerant.
Or, how about Hades. Portrayed typically as a
dark and devious character, who constantly is
trying to overthrow Zeus, while still
maintaining his hold on Tartarus. But here he is
a favored uncle. teased and revered by several,
all at the same time.
We can't mention Hades without Persephone, who
was always shown as kind of (in my opinion) a
little ditzy and not caring about her
actions...but here? She is a bit of a valley
girl and, still, a ditz. Everyone's favorite
Aunt when they are young, because she doesn't
seem to be much older, regardless of her actual
age.
The, we have our main characters of the
series...Iakonna and Ries, who have to learn to
navigate Mount Olympus...trying to stay one step
ahead of the gods, yet always in trouble with
them. Sent to Earth to serve out a punishment
for an untold amount of time. Serving the
punishment as humans, stripped of their powers
as demi-gods, and well favored ones, for the
most part, at that. Sent to be human, to learn
the lesson of showing an inability to give the
gods the respect they have come to known, and
demand of everyone, including each other.
Come, sit by the fire, as I spin a tale of godly
politics and personalities that might give a new
meaning to "family".
